What are absentee bids? When a buyer is unable to attend an auction in person and has found an item they wish to bid on, he/she may leave an absentee bid indicating the maximum amount they are willing to pay for the item. The auction company will then bid on behalf of that person as though they were there in person. Note that the company will only bid an amount required to secure the item or until the maximum bid is reached. The maximum will not be exceeded unless the potential buyer authorizes it.
